Samsung Galaxy S2 can be easily be said as one of the finest  smartphone of the decade. With slimmest design and features  that are exceptionally powerful, this device from South Korean firm  has no competition. It has certainly taken over the Android market with its powerful dual core processor. Still thinking to go for iPhone 4 take a look at its review before you leap.

Build

Samsung Galaxy S2 is the slimmest Android phone ever defeating Apple iPhone 4 which has thickness of 9.3 mm.  This incredible device comes assembled within the dimensions of 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm and weight of mere 116 grams making it light as feather and portable enough to be carried with you anywhere slipping easily into the pocket. Build quality is not that great and it feels like we might just squash it while removing the back cover.
The various controls of the phone like power on one side while the other side has volume controls. The control called MHL port which is used for charging via USB and connecting to HDMI is also present. 3.5mm jack for connecting the head phones is present on the top.

Screen:


Highlight of Samsung Galaxy s2 is the  4.3 inches Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen having the resolution of 480 x 800 pixels supported by 16 millions which brings out the colours as if they are popping out of the screen. This is the phone which can easily match up to the clarity and sharpness of the iPhone 4.
The huge screen means that viewing of the pictures, movies, videos, web pages and games is a great experience. The screen supports all kinds of features like proximity sensor, accelerometer sensor, gyro sensor and touch sensitive controls etc.


Camera:

Samsung has boasted the camera from 5 MP in Galaxy S to 8  MP in Galaxy S2. This is the best snapper found in any smartphone having the resolution of 3264x2448 pixels. All the images whether in dark or dim light comes out clear and crisp thanks to LED flash. Since the screen is Super AMOLED plus the  pictures are full of colours and  brightness. There is no camera shutter to click the picture rather there is virtual button to capture images.
 Video recording is good too at 1920x1080 pixels resolution. On the front there is 2MP camera which is used for the purpose of video calling and video conferencing.

Processor:

Samsung Galaxy S2 is definitely more powerful than its predecessor. Processor in the phone has been lifted from 1GHz to 1.2 GHZ making it Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor. This has led to one of the fastest smartphone, a mere tap is enough to open up multitude of apps, downloading is speedy and so is access to Internet. Just think and it will open up everything.

Operating System:

Galaxy S2 comes with Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread) and Samsung’s very own Touch Wiz 4.0 interface which is much more refined.  There are seven home pages which can be scrolled at high speed. The interface is more or less same with few customized widgets added. These are easy to handle. You can set up your email using Google. There are many Google apps in the phone like Google search, Google Maps, Google Talk etc.

There has been some changes in the Contacts, here you can now messages by swiping the screen to right and call by swiping the screen to left. There is photo and video editor as well. Virtual keyboard is also well designed and is easy to operate. There is T9 dictionary and SWYPE to make your typing faster and simpler.
 

Music and  Video Player:

Galaxy S2 has the best music player in the smartphones with Dolby 5.1 support which brings out best surround sound enabling you to hear every note and frequency in your ears. There are plenty of equalizers and sound modes which makes music player more advance and better. There is also Android video player which supports .Avi, DivX and Xvid video files.

Hubs:

Galaxy S2 has four hubs namely Games, Reader, Social and Music. These are extremely user friendly and help you to find your apps much faster and easily. If you want to enjoy your social activity then there  is social hub where all the apps like Facebbok,Twitter, LinkedIN and Myspace are available. In the reader hub there are volume of books which you can be read and similarly in music there are plethora of music at your disposal.

Other features:

Samsung has loaded the phone with essential stuffs like HTML browser which is smooth-scrolls and downloads web pages with ease. There are plenty of Google apps as mentioned earlier. With GPS support you can find direction to your destinations. With FM radio you can enjoy various music stations in your phone.  High speed internet can be accessed through GPRS, EDGE and 3G. Internal memory of the phone is either 16GB or 32GB which is expandable to 32GB through micro SD card slot.
 With document editor you can edit, save and format Microsoft documents like word, power point and excel. Latest technology NFC is also enabled in the phone.


Battery:
Samsung Galaxy S2 has great battery life. With moderate browsing, video recording and sufficient talking, the battery gave talktime of 18 hours in 2G and 8 hours in 3G. Standby time was superb  710 hours in 2G and 610 hours in 3G.

Conclusion:

Samsung Galaxy S2 is certainly a worthy smartphone with its great processor, battery life and plethora of features which can give even iPhone 4 a tough fight. So, if you are Android fan and are looking for the best smartphone then this is it!
